"My grandfather planted the first vines in 1950 and my father produced the first Champagnes in 1986. After deepened my knowledge in Burgundy, it was my turn with my wife Mathilde, herself from a family of winegrowers, to perpetuate the tradition of my elders." - Pierre Demets. It is in the Côte des Bar, in Gyé-sur-Seine, the family village, that the estate is located. Throughout the year, they attach great importance to the cultivation of the plots. It is nature that directs the interventions. "We are only present to guide and accompany our vines while respecting the soils, the plant and the biodiversity that surrounds them." Champagne Marie Demets has a homeopathic approach with the use of certified organic and biocontrol products. The vine is also stimulated by the addition of other plants and trace elements. Planted in clay-limestone soils (Kimmeridgian and Portlandian), the plots of the vineyard are differentiated by their varied ages and exposures. The vineyard is made up of Pinot Noir (about 70%), Chardonnay (27%) and a rare grape variety in Champagne: Pinot Blanc (3%).
