About this winery

Maison Bruyère & David was created by two friends, rising stars of the Northern Rhône. It was in 2018 that Justin and Sylvain began their collaboration for the vinification of their plots. Justin Bruyère and Sylvain David are owners in Côte Rôtie, Condrieu, Saint Joseph and trade harvests in Cornas. The vines in the appellation are located on hillsides on granite soils, sandy for Condrieu and St Joseph. The IGP vines are located 500m as the crow flies from the Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie and St...

Production notes

In the village of Charnas, in the heart of the Saint-Joseph cru, the Syrah vines grow on granite soils on hillsides. Viticulture is demanding on the steep slopes and this situation explains the fact that this vineyard cannot be mechanized: it is a "heroic vineyard". The harvest is manual, 100% of the bunches are destemmed. The 2021 vintage is one of freshness and finesse, without putting aside the power of this grape variety! The aging is done for 10 months in oak barrels of one and two wines.

Tasting notes

The 2021 vintage is one of freshness and tension compared to the previous vintage. You have to let it open up in the glass so that it reveals all its finesse with sweet spices, notes of pepper and red fruits. The touch of tannin is defined, racy. Long persistence!

Matt Walls, (Vintage 2022)

Full-bodied, this has great fullness and depth. Tannins are robust but should settle in time to produce a complex, satisfying wine. Destemmed fruit; aged for 10 months in barrel, some new, some two-year-old.
