About this winery
The origin of Santa Lucia dates back to 1628 when Marc Antonio Perrone, ancestor of Roberto Perrone, earned feudal income and acquired land near the town of Corato in the Murgia region. But it was in 1822 that the first plans for the building were drawn up. Then used as a hospital, animal shelter and warehouse for agricultural tools, it is now the site of winemaking and welcoming visitors. The organic conversion began in 2013. Production notes
Organic certified starting with harvest 2016, it has an high content of dry extracts. Since 2003 this wine comes 100% from Nero di Troia grapes, fermented in rotating stainless steel tanks equipped with hot/cold water external pockets. The wine ages for 12 months in 35 hl. Slovenian oak; 12 months in steel vats or glassed (vetrified) tanks, and for further 6 months in the bottle stored in warehouse with control of temperature and humidity.
Tasting notes
Dark ruby red, with a wide bouquet of ripe red fruit, crushed raspberries and balsamic spices. It is a full bodied dry wine, rich and balanced, with soft tannins and a long finish of berries and traces of licorice.
